Transverse: Juried Visual Art Exhibition

Fri, Jun 4 - Sun, Jul 18, 2021
  • Pittsburgh Cultural Trust
  • 820 Gallery

In 2020, the Juried Visual Art Exhibition took on new life as a virtual-only exhibition, featuring dozens of works selected by an esteemed jury panel. Now, for the first time, that show is on display in-person as originally intended. The show's theme, Transverse, remains intact as described at the time by 2020 Exhibition Coordinator Ivette Spradlin:

"The call for the 2020 Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival Juried Visual Art Exhibition asked for work exploring ideas about altered realities, utopias, and challenging the status quo. Art that offers a new way of seeing or experiencing our world. Art that calls for change, overturns current thought, and helps us understand new perspectives. Art that pushes us forward. Transverse now seems like a prophetic title. Transverse, as a pandemic grounded the majority of the world at home and moved this exhibition from a physical to a virtual space. Transverse, as our nation’s heart breaks and seeks justice. Transverse, as we face uncertainty and fear. Transverse as we grieve. Transverse as we heal."

2020 Exhibition Coordinator: Ivette Spradlin

2020 Jurors: Richard Hylton, Dan Leers, Lise Ragbir, Jessie Rommelt
