Wooden frames are constructed and enclosed with sheer fabric creating semi-transparent, two-sided screens. Varicolored thread is woven in between the two fabric panels, in which I create three-dimensional shapes and polygons that appear to float in space. It’s basically a three-dimensional drawing. The area between the two pieces of stretched fabric creates a space where I “draw” sculptural forms, shapes that are suspended and easily manipulated. From there the frames are backlit. Through structured string and sheer fabric, the negative space within the frame becomes palpable. The work investigates perception and is an exploration of sculpture, painting, & drawing.
