Our resident MC, Bob Studebaker, has been a part of the JazzLive series since its inception in 2004 and we are grateful to have him join us every Tuesday.

Bob Studebaker is a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh who began playing jazz on the radio in 1979. He has won multiple Golden Quill awards from the Western Pennsylvania Press Club for documentaries chronicling the history of music in the region. He has also lectured at The University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University on the contributions Pittsburgh artists have made to the evolution of jazz. He currently manages JazzWorks, a nationally distributed music service heard on stations across the nation.

“Jazz has been central to the character of Pittsburgh for more than a century and it consistently draws people across economic and social barriers more effectively than anything else in the city (except the Steelers).”
