PITTSBURGH BOY ESCAPES AN OPPRESSIVE
WORLD...FOR A NEW YORK MINUTE

Drawing its plot from the famous Willa Cather short story, Paul’s Case premiered just a few months ago to rave reviews. This haunting 90-minute work is the story of a high school “dandy” whose artistic and social aspirations drive him to escape from sooty 1906 Pittsburgh. He defies his headmaster and his father, steals money, and goes to New York City to live the high life at the Waldorf-Astoria. After a drunken night with a Yale student, reality comes crashing down, and Paul’s life ends in a wrenching finale.
