“Black Angels over Tuskegee” is a story told in narrative of six men embarking on a journey to become pilots in the U.S. Army Air Forces. The play explores their collective struggle with Jim Crow, challenging their intelligence, patriotism, brotherhood and dreams of an inclusive and fair society. The play goes beyond the headlines of popular stories and reveals the heart and soul of the Tuskegee Airmen who exhibited the courage to excel in spite of all the overwhelming odds against them. Almost 100 Tuskegee Airmen came from Western PA making it the largest contingent in the country.
Net proceeds from the ticket sales will support New Horizon Theater and its future productions and the Tuskegee Airmen Memorial Project commemorative activities including a major exhibit at Pittsburgh International Airport and the construction of the largest outdoor memorial to be located at the Sewickley (PA) Cemetery.
The $100 VIP tickets will include preferred seating and a pre-performance reception in the Byham lobby at 6:00 pm, featuring live music, hors d’oeuvres and cash bar.
