For this concert, Steve Hackman has crafted a modern dramatization and remix of Stravinsky's ballet The Firebird. Weaved into the Stravinsky are 12 original songs, inspired by the myth of the Firebird and the original 1911 score, that use modern pop/DJ/electronica production techniques to tell the story in an entirely new and contemporary way.  It is at once a live remix, concept album and classical masterpiece. Singers, rappers, laptops, drum machines, synthesizers, etc. are all in the mix!

FUSE@PSO is a bold new approach to classical concerts. The brainchild of composer-conductor-producer Steve Hackman and presented by (and with) the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, this new series of early evening concerts fuses the old and the new, creating something that is at once a combination of both and wholly original.

FUSE@PSO begins at 5 p.m. with the concert starting at 6:30 p.m.
