Full-Time Employment Opportunities

Chief Programming and Engagement Officer

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, and in partnership with peers on the senior leadership team and staff, the Chief Programming and Engagement Officer (CPEO) will strategically and innovatively reimagine and strengthen programming at the Trust, leading the arts education, strategic partnerships, and community engagement teams. They will implement intentional programming and understand how to plan for and execute a successful season. The CPEO will also be data-driven as they think about future programming to meet financial and artistic goals and promote collegiality and collaboration across the teams they oversee. At this inflection point, they will take advantage of the Trust’s exciting momentum as its profile continues to grow regionally and nationally, and champion the arts to broad and diverse communities with the goal of bringing more people to the Cultural District. In essence, the CPEO will be a creative, innovative, strategic, and impactful leader who will contribute to the Trust’s goal to “enrich the city of Pittsburgh’s vibrancy, diversity, and prosperity.”

This individual will bring a passion for and commitment to the arts along with a deep understanding of and experience with performing arts presenting and PAC organizations, arts programming, arts education and community initiatives, and the complexity of planning and executing successful seasons. The CPEO will have a record of success as a people-centered leader and manager who recognizes and relies on their staff’s areas of expertise, effectively motivating, engaging, and inspiring teams.

Director of Data Analytics, Strategy and Governance

The Director of Data Analytics, Strategy and Governance is responsible for designing, planning, monitoring, and improving the data analytics and management functions of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. This individual will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand and analyze business processes, gather business requirements, evaluate concepts, and present key performance metrics to the business to support strategic goals and efforts. The Director must be able to understand both the technical points of data management, as well as the business drivers and needs regarding data. This individual must be able to understand the underlying technology related to the organization’s data resources and develop a strategic plan for the technical space considering the business’s perspective and needs.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional listening and communication skills. This individual will be sensitive to user issues and able to communicate with different stakeholders with varying levels of sophistication. The candidate should be a strong problem-solver who is able to combine big picture vision with attention to detail. Outstanding customer service orientation, business acumen, and understanding of organizational priorities are essential. Experience in arts administration is a plus.

Candidates must have at least 5 years’ experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or organizational development along with a deep understanding of technical and business aspects within a complex data landscape. Required technical competencies include expertise with Tessitura CRM software and working knowledge of analytics platforms like Sisense, Tableau, Qlik, and Microsoft Power BI. Working knowledge of applications that integrate with Tessitura and data governance tools required. Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence tools with exposure to large leaning models is a plus.

Bachelor’s degree required in communications, writing, data analysis, business or related field or comparable experience. The salary range for this position starts at $80,000.

Director of Facilities and Grounds

The Director of Facilities and Grounds is a full-time, salaried position responsible for overseeing effective operating procedures across the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s buildings and grounds. The position will lead and manage all facility-related activities (including buildings and grounds maintenance, engineering, and code compliance) across the Trust’s unique real estate portfolio, which includes major performing arts venues, galleries and arts spaces, office and administrative buildings, open spaces, and dormant properties. The Director of Facilities also manages and directs the performance of a team of 10 full-time operating engineers as well as interfacing with third-party property management firms and engineering services.

The ideal candidate will have outstanding interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills and attention to detail. This individual will be resolute yet diplomatic with the flexibility and creativity to find alternative solutions to challenges. Candidates should have 10 years’ work experience in comparable positions with at least 3-5 years’ experience managing large complex building or construction projects. Prior experience managing a project team is essential. Technical knowledge requirements include familiarity with building maintenance software, HVAC monitoring systems, and reading blueprints. Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements, industry standard safety requirements, and local City and County ordinances, codes and permitting is required.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field, or comparable experience, is required. The salary range for this position starts at $75,000.

Production Manager

Production Manager is a full-time, salaried position working across all Pittsburgh Cultural Trust performance venues. The Production Manager consults with internal and external production staff to acquire the technical and production requirements necessary to get a production running on time and on budget at Trust performance venues. Key aspects of this position include:

  • Managing the advance process, including communicating with the production company, validating technical rider information, and deciding on staffing and equipment needs.
  • Advising promoters/co-promoters regarding production and labor costs and building cost estimates for production.
  • Building schedules for load in, run of the show, and load out, while also managing labor (stagehands) within union rules and the estimated cost structure.
  • Managing the load-in/load-out process on-site and interpreting union contract language to ensure compliance with labor rules.
  • Providing estimates and cost information for show settlements, including stagehand labor costs, stage charges, and rental charges.

Candidates should have at least 3 years’ experience in theater arts, stage managing, or related field. Experience with production operations and interpreting labor contracts strongly preferred. The position requires basic understanding of lighting, sound, and production equipment and familiarity with plans and technical terminology used by production crews. Outstanding scheduling/logistical skills are essential. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and accountable with strong problem-solving orientation. This individual should have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with different personalities and stakeholders. The Manager must be able to work a flexible schedule that will include evening and/or weekend work.

Bachelor’s degree in arts management, stage management, production management, theater arts, or related field preferred. The salary range for this position starts at $55,000.

Part-Time Employment Opportunities

Assistant Manager- Greer Cabaret Theater

The Assistant Manager, Greer Cabaret Theater is responsible for creating a professional, warm, and welcoming atmosphere for all guests entering the Greer Cabaret Theater and Lounge. This position assists with all patron services at the Greer Cabaret Theater, working collaboratively with the Venue Manager, the front-of-house team, box office staff, and operations personnel to ensure guest safety, comfort, and enjoyment while visiting the theater. During shifts, the Assistant Manager may oversee all aspects of theater operations and shows, coordinating with other Trust departments to ensure that the facility, staff, and guest experience are of the highest quality. This individual will work a flexible schedule involving primarily evening and weekend hours as dictated by the Greer Cabaret Theater performance schedule. This is a part-time position, evening, and weekend hours. Hours will be determined by the needs of the Trust and will coincide with events scheduled at Greer Cabaret Theater.  The salary for this position is $20/hour.

Gallery Attendant/Ambassador

Gallery Attendants and Ambassadors assist guests and support traffic flow, information sharing, and gallery security at exhibitions scheduled at various Trust galleries. Gallery Attendants/Ambassadors are scheduled to work between four and six hours per shift. These individuals work cooperatively to ensure guest safety, comfort, and enjoyment while visiting Trust galleries and/or attending Trust exhibitions.

This is a part-time position working daytime, evening and weekend hours. Gallery Attendants/Ambassadors will be rotated with other part-time staff members with no annual guarantee for the number of hours or events worked. Hours will be determined by the needs of the Trust and will coincide with events scheduled at Trust galleries.

Candidates should demonstrate a strong customer service orientation with outstanding communication skills. Teamwork, empathy, discretion and professional demeanor are essential for success in this position. Salary for this position is $15/hour.

Guest Services Center Representative

The Guest Services Center Representative is a part-time, hourly position providing customer service support during performances and events at the Benedum Center and Byham Theater. These representatives interact with guests seeking information and assistive equipment to enhance their patron experience. Duties include:

  • Answering patrons’ questions regarding the theater, performances, and the Cultural District
  • Handing out assistive listening devices and closed captioning devices
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the area and cleaning returned devices
  • Filling out daily reports detailing Guest Service Center activities

Applicants must have a very flexible schedule and be available on evenings, weekends, and holidays (to align with performance schedules in the theaters). Stagehand

This is a part-time, hourly position for a technician in the installation and operation of large touring theatrical road shows (e.g., Broadway tours), rock & roll shows, and other large stage performances such as opera and ballet. This individual should have the ability to follow direction and be an on the job learner. This is a union position with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 3.

The stagehand reports directly to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s House Carpenter and the Trust’s Production Management team. Stagehands must be available to work a flexible schedule (including evenings and weekends), often working long hours to accommodate performance and event requirements. Hours are offered via a hiring hall; stagehands accept calls that work with their schedule and their skill set(s). Union calls are issued based on seniority.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are examples but are not limited to the various types of job responsibilities.

  • Load and unload road cases, scenery, and materials from loading dock.
  • Assemble and disassemble scenery, stage equipment, and auxiliary items such as dance flooring.
  • Set up audio and lighting equipment, theatrical equipment, microphones, props, and auxiliary equipment such as orchestral music stands.
  • Move and rearrange furniture, set up risers, and operate scenery-moving machinery.
  • Assist with video, sound, and light production and/or maintenance.
  • Rigging which may include raising motors, lighting, and scenery out into the grid as well as lowering it onto stage.
  • Work with audio engineers, electricians, carpenters, and other backstage personnel.
  • Other backstage duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Skill or ability to learn about stage equipment and various tools used. On the job training is provided.
  • Ability to work from oral requests and well as printed run sheets to achieve desired modifications/installation.
  • Willingness to work long hours, accommodating work schedule to requirements of performance and events.
