Dale Dorlin, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's new Director of Public Relations, was excited to move from Detroit to Pittsburgh just in time to attend our Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival and Pittsburgh JazzLive International Festival. To get in the jazz groove, he listened to the many fantastic musicians coming to our city to play for us.

While Jazz can mean many different things to many different people, the one thing we can all agree on is that Jazz is an American-born genre derivative of Black southern roots. As someone who has been around jazz all his life but never really considered himself a jazz aficionado, my kind of jazz has soultry feels, killer bass lines, and high energy. Jazz, to me, is the essence of a magical night filled with flavorful food and endless dancing that moves from the club, to the streets, to the night cap. The playlist you're about to listen to starts out with Spanish Harlem Orchestra's Plena Con Sabor—full of flavor, which makes you want to get up and dance whether you have the moves to go along with it or not. We end with Laura Mvula's Ready or Not Remix that has a sound reminiscent of 90s hip-hop. Feel free to groove in your chair at work, nod your head as you wait for the bus, and full out dance! Are you ready for JazzLive 2017?
