Applies to culturaldistrict.org, trustarts.org, and other websites, applications, and digital services that link to this Policy
Effective Date: October 8, 2026
Last Updated Date: October 8, 2026
1. Scope and Covered Organizations
This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust (“the Trust,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information when you interact with us online or offline. This Policy applies to culturaldistrict.org, trustarts.org, and any other websites, mobile applications, digital services, or online platforms that link to this Policy (collectively, the “Websites”).
This Policy applies when you visit or use our Websites or other digital services; purchase, receive, exchange, or transfer tickets, subscriptions, memberships, gift cards, parking, or other products or services; donate or participate in fundraising activities; create or manage an online Cultural District account; register for an event, education program, volunteer opportunity, contest, promotion, or survey; attend performances, festivals, public events, exhibitions, or programs presented or administered by the Trust; or contact us or communicate with our staff.
We refer collectively to these websites, digital services, social media pages, email communications, mobile communications, and offline interactions as our “Services.”
Our Role
The Trust presents, manages, and supports performances, festivals, public spaces, venues, educational programs, fundraising activities, and community events. We also provide ticketing, customer service, patron management, marketing, fundraising, and administrative services for arts presenting organizations, rental clients, and other partners.
As a result, the Trust’s role may differ depending on the particular interaction. Depending on the event or service, the Trust may determine how your personal information is processed. In other cases, we process information on behalf of another organization in connection with an event, performance, membership, donation, venue rental, or other activity.
When another organization is identified on a website page, checkout process, ticket, email, SMS or other communication, that organization may also collect, receive, or process your personal information for its own purposes, and its privacy policy may also apply. This Policy does not govern information that another organization collects independently outside of the Trust’s Services or pursuant to that organization’s own privacy practices.
2. How We Collect Information
We collect personal information from different sources depending on how you interact with the Trust. For example, we may collect information directly from you when you purchase tickets, donate, create an account, register for a program, contact us, or otherwise use our Services. We also collect information automatically when you use our Websites or other Services, and we may receive information from organizations and service providers that help us administer performances, events, donations, ticketing, and other services.
We may also combine information collected from different sources where reasonably necessary to provide our Services, maintain accurate records, personalize your experience, protect our systems, comply with legal obligations, or otherwise carry out the purposes described in this Policy.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies to operate, secure, and improve our Services; remember preferences; understand Websites use; personalize content; measure communications and advertising effectiveness; and support other legitimate operational purposes.
These technologies may include cookies, pixels, tags, software development kits (SDKs), browser web storage, local storage, and similar technologies. Depending on the applicable Website and your choices, they may be categorized as strictly necessary, functional, performance and analytics, or advertising technologies.
Most web browsers allow you to manage or delete cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may affect the functionality of certain Services. Cookie preferences are generally specific to the browser and device you use.
7. Advertising and Analytics
We may use analytics and advertising services to measure visits, campaigns, conversions, and interactions and to provide or evaluate interest-based advertising. 8. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
We offer several ways for you to manage your personal information and communication preferences. Depending on where you live and how you interact with the Trust, you may also have certain privacy rights under applicable law.
Managing Your Information
- Access or update your information: If you have an online account, you may review and update certain personal information by logging into your account. Please contact us with any questions or issues.
- Choosing not to provide information. You may choose not to provide certain personal information. However, if we require that information to provide a requested product, service, or transaction, your decision not to provide it may prevent us from fulfilling your request. Where appropriate, we will identify information that is required at the time it is collected.
Managing Your Communications
- Marketing emails. You may opt out of receiving marketing and fundraising emails at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions included in those communications. Even if you opt out of marketing emails, we may continue to send you transactional or operational communications relating to your tickets, donations, subscriptions, account, purchases, or other interactions with the Trust.
- Text messages. If you receive marketing text messages from us, you may opt out by following the instructions included in the message or by contacting us. Message and data rates may apply. Opting out of marketing text messages will not affect service-related messages necessary to administer a transaction or provide requested services.
- Mail and telephone communications. You may contact us to update your preferences regarding marketing communications by mail or telephone.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
You may manage your cookie preferences through the Website. Most web browsers also allow you to block or delete cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may affect the functionality of certain Services. Additional information is available in the Cookies and Similar Technologies section of this Policy.
Some web browsers transmit “Do Not Track” signals. Because there is not currently a consistent industry standard for responding to these signals, our Websites do not respond to those signals.
Third-Party Platforms and Social Media
If you connect to our Services through a third-party platform or social media service, you may be able to limit the information that the third party shares with us by adjusting your settings with that platform. Changes you make through a third-party platform generally do not affect information we previously received from that platform.
State Privacy Rights
Residents of certain states may have additional privacy rights under applicable law. Depending on the law that applies, these rights may include the ability to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of certain personal information, or to opt out of certain processing activities, including targeted advertising or certain disclosures of personal information.
To exercise any applicable privacy right, please contact us using the information provided below. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and process your request. Where permitted by law, an authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf, subject to appropriate verification of the agent’s authority.
We may decline a request where permitted by applicable law, including when we are unable to verify your identity, an exception applies, or we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, or protect our rights.
If applicable law provides you with the right to appeal our decision regarding a privacy request, you may submit an appeal using the same contact information. We will review and respond to your appeal within the timeframe required by applicable law.
9. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing Services; maintaining patron, donor, membership, transaction, tax, accounting, fraud, and security records; complying with legal and contractual obligations; resolving disputes; and enforcing agreements. The security of your personal information is important to us. We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we collect against unauthorized access, use, and disclosure.
However, no transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your personal information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of account credentials and for notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child in a manner inconsistent with applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to delete the information.
Certain Trust education programs, performances, camps, community programs, volunteer opportunities, or other activities may involve children. Information collected in connection with those activities may be governed by separate registration materials, notices, consent forms, or program-specific privacy practices.
12. International Visitors
The Trust is headquartered in the United States, and our Services are intended primarily for individuals in the United States. Information may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, whose data protection laws may differ from those in your country of residence. Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing personal information, we rely on one or more of the following: performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, our legitimate interests, or your consent, depending on the circumstances.
13. Third Party Sites and Services
Our Services may contain links to, or content or features from, other websites and online services operated by third parties, including payment services, social networks, maps, and parking. These links are not an endorsement of, or representation that we are affiliated with, any third party.
In addition, our content may be included on web pages or in mobile applications or online services that are not associated with us. The Trust does not control, and is not responsible for, third-party websites, mobile applications, or online services.
Other websites and services follow different rules regarding the collection, use, and sharing of your personal information. Those parties’ privacy practices apply to information they collect independently, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
