In her new series, Proud to be an American?, Pittsburgh photographer Rebecca Chiappelli explores the meaning of patriotism from diverse perspectives.

Bea Chiappelli (b.1981) was born and raised in small town America. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree at Mercyhurst College, where she concentrated on Fashion Merchandising. She also received an Associate’s Degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Prior to working towards her MFA in photography, she spent five and half years working as a merchant in the retail industry. In 2012, Bea decided to leave that industry to pursue her passion for photography. She earned her MFA in 2012, from the Academy of Art University with a concentration in Photography. Rebecca currently resides in Pittsburgh, PA.
