Moulin Rouge - The Musical
September 27 - October 8, 2023
Ten-time Tony Award® winner, including winner of Best Musical, Moulin Rouge - The Musical is the stage version of the popular film of the same name. There is a lot to love about this show with its wild energy and it features 72 chart-topping pop songs! You will not want to miss seeing the magic of Christian and Satine live on the Benedum stage.
The Wiz
October 31 - November 5, 2023
Next up, get ready to “ease on down the road” with The Wiz. Having originally premiered in 1975 and taking home seven Tony® Awards including Best Musical, The Wiz is known for being the groundbreaking, beloved adaptation of the Wizard of Oz story featuring a predominantly Black cast. Incorporating musical genres such as soul, gospel, rock, and funk, after this show, you will never want to go home. Unlike most shows that debut on Broadway and take to the road, this special production will open in Baltimore in the Fall and take to Broadway in Spring of 2024. We are so proud to be one of the first markets to present it after Baltimore.
Mrs. Doubtfire
November 28 - December 3, 2023
Mrs. Doubtfire is based on the 1993 movie starring Robin Williams and tells the iconic story of a divorced dad who disguises himself as a hearty old Scottish nanny so he can spend time with his kids. Directed by Jerry Zak (revival of Music Man, Hello Dolly, Sister Act) and music written by Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick, this show is sure to be everything you want in a family friendly musical!
Girl from the North Country
January 9-14, 2024
Girl from the North Country is a new show that, through the reimagining of Bob Dylan songs, tells the story of an unlikely group of strangers who find family and comfort with each other during the depression in a Minnesota rooming house. Ben Brantly from the New York Times said that Dylan’s Songs have never sounded so heartbreakingly personal and universal. Written and directed by Conor McPherson (The Seafarer), this musical is a love letter to one of the greatest songwriters of all time.
My Fair Lady
January 30 - February 4, 2024
My Fair Lady is a Lincoln Center Theater production of Lerner and Loewe’s beloved classic. Originally programmed as part of the 2021-2022 season but canceled due to the pandemic, we are excited to finally deliver the show to Pittsburgh theater fans. The production boasts some of musical theater’s most iconic songs such as “I Could Have Danced All Night”, “The Rain in Spain”, and many more. My Fair Lady joins South Pacific and The King and I as fellow Lincoln Center Theater productions that have made their way to the Benedum Center stage.
Company
April 16-21, 2024
Winner of five Tony® Awards including Best Musical Revival, this production of Company is the gender-flipped retelling of the Stephen Sondheim classic and follows the story of Bobbie, who is under relentless pressure from her friends to get married. Directed by Marianne Elliot who worked on several of my other favorites including War Horse and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, I found this production on Broadway to be sophisticated, insightful, and funny and knew it was a perfect fit for the season.
The Kite Runner
May 7-12, 2024
The Kite Runner is the stage adaptation of the two-year, New York Times Best Seller novel. The production originated in London’s West End before going to Broadway and follows the book closely. It is an enormously powerful play set mostly in Afghanistan and grapples with the struggles of a man who betrayed his closest friend when he was younger and the difficulties he encounters on the road to his redemption.
A PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh season is never complete without special add-ons! The Book of Mormon will take the Benedum stage February 27 - March 4, 2024, followed by Mamma Mia, March 26-31, 2024.
We are so thankful that PNC has returned as the title sponsor for this season; bringing the best Broadway shows to Pittsburgh would not be possible without their generous support. Looking forward to seeing you when the curtain rises!
On a parting note, many performances completely sold out this season. Ensure that you don’t miss a single show for 2023-2024 and secure the best possible seats by ordering your season tickets today!
