Join us for a celebration of Mexican cuisine, culture, and activities led by Lisa DiGioia-Nutini and Alison Zapatta, creators of the ofrenda! Savor authentic tacos, tamales and more with Los Gallitos food truck, enjoy music with DJ Mateo Mattos, paint Sugar Skulls, visit the ofrenda, and learn more about this celebration from the artists.

Meet the Artists
Lisa DiGioia-Nutini
Lisa DiGioia-Nutini is the owner of Mexico Lindo Mercado y Galeria de Artesanías, founded in 2002 to promote and educate others about Mexican folk art and culture. From 2004–2017, she ran a storefront in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill, where she first began constructing elaborate ofrendas annually. Lisa also supported the Latinx community with information and referral and partnered with numerous local organizations. Since 2004, she has collaborated with the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Latin American Studies, organizing artist visits and workshops. Her work has included contributions to La Palapa Cocina, micro-lending, social media coaching and artist support in Oaxaca, and membership in Friends of Oaxacan Folk Art.
Part of her personal collection was featured in a 2023–24 exhibit at the Latin American Cultural Center entitled Mexican Masks: Symbols, Satire, Celebrations and Safety. In 2025 she became a teaching artist with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. In addition to her cultural work, Lisa is a Graduate Gemologist, jewelry and graphic designer, and performs as DJ Gringa Morena, blending Latin American music genres.
Alison Maria Zapata
Alison Maria Zapata is a visual artist who specializes in painting, murals, and mixed-media collage. Having obtained a BA in Fine Art/Art Education at Carlow University, Alison has developed engaging, child-centered arts programming in classrooms throughout Pittsburgh’s urban and rural populations over the past twenty-two years. Alison has received art education training through Gateway to the Arts, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Penn State, Lincoln Center’s Aesthetic Education, and Wolf Trap Institute.
She is a resident artist in the Artists in Education program through the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. She was awarded participation in the Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad Art and Society: Brazil/U.S. Educational Partnership. She is the owner/ lead artist of Zapata Studios.

Participate in our community ofrenda, where attendees can contribute personal mementos and flowers to the altar. Honor a loved one by adding to the ofrenda. You can leave a photo, a flower, or a written memory. Each contribution helps keep their spirit alive in our celebration of life and remembrance.
Ofrenda Networking Happy Hour
October 29 | 5:30 pm - 9 pm
The Lounge at the Greer Cabaret Theater
Join us for a lively happy hour in celebration of Día de Los Muertos! Network with friends, contribute to the ofrenda, enjoy a nacho/taco bar, and sip on signature cocktails inspired by Mexican and Latin flavors while enjoying music by DJ Mateo Mattos. Get your festive Makeup de Muertos look by Beanie Paints (complimentary for guests, first come first serve).
Festive attire and makeup are encouraged but NOT REQUIRED.
Presented in partnership with the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and other community partners.
