Visit Arts Landing

Arts Landing is free and open to the public year-round.

Location and Hours

Arts Landing is situated between Fort Duquesne Boulevard and Penn Avenue, from 8th to 9th Street in the Cultural District of Downtown Pittsburgh.

Visit anytime between 7 am and 10 pm.

Rules and Regulations

 
Arts Landing is owned and operated by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust (the “Trust”). We invite visitors to enjoy Arts Landing in ways that are respectful, safe, and considerate and in line with the rules below.  

The Trust is authorized to interpret, enforce, and modify these rules at any time, as well as to address situations not listed here in its discretion. Visitors who do not comply may be asked to leave and may be subject to additional action.  

Arts Landing is open from 7 am to 10 pm. Visitors are not permitted to enter Arts Landing when closed.

Be Respectful of Others

Visitors are expected to:

  • Use respectful language and behavior toward all people
  • Avoid conduct and speech that is disruptive, threatening, discriminatory, or unsafe
  • Supervise children at all times
  • Keep entrances, exits, and walkways clear and accessible

Help Keep Arts Landing Safe

For everyone’s safety and recreation, the following items and activities are prohibited:

  • Weapons and firearms
  • Fighting, throwing objects, and disorderly conduct of any kind
  • Fireworks, drones, laser pointers, and similar items
  • Open flames, including grills, candles, or fire pits
  • Smoking, including vaping and e-cigarettes
  • Possession or use of drugs and illegal substances
  • Alcohol, unless purchased at Arts Landing and consumed in designated areas
  • Camping, including tents, sleeping bags, and similar items
  • Coolers, duffle bags, or luggage of any kind
  • Sleeping or loitering
  • Panhandling or soliciting
  • Nudity or indecent exposure. Shirts, athletic tops, and full coverage bottoms are required. Undergarments must remain covered.

Transportation & Recreation

Bicycles, scooters (motorized or electric), skateboards, rollerblades and skates, hoverboards, shopping carts, and similar devices are generally not permitted, except if used to travel through Arts Landing on concrete or other hard-surfaced pathways. These devices may not be ridden, used, or parked on lawns, planted areas, playground surfaces, or other non-paved areas.

Care for Arts Landing

Arts Landing’s landscape and public art are here for everyone to enjoy. Please follow these guidelines:

  • Don’t litter! Dispose of trash properly and help to keep Arts Landing clean.
  • Stay on designated paths and out of plant beds. Do not pick or remove flowers or plants.
  • Do not climb on or deface artwork, trees, or structures.
  • Do not dump liquids, ice, or other materials in plant beds or common areas.
  • Do not attach items, post signs, or affix materials to Arts Landing features.
  • Unless directed otherwise, you may touch the public art! However, do not climb, hang on, or otherwise act in a way that could damage any art works.
  • Confetti, glitter, balloon or lantern releases, bounce houses, or similar materials are prohibited.

Arts Landing Playground

The Cultural Trust is proud to host Downtown’s first playground!  

Play equipment is limited to children ages 5-12 (small Step Cluster by Woodland Animals limited to ages 2-5). Other rules for the playground area include:

  • Play at your own risk.
  • Adults must supervise children at all times.
  • Use equipment safely.
  • Pets, other than service animals, are not permitted.
  • Follow Arts Landing rules.
  • Ball playing is not permitted.

Pets & Wildlife

  • Pets are generally welcome but must be leashed (no longer than six feet). For certain events and/or in designated spaces, the Trust may prohibit pets (other than service animals).
  • Pet owners must clean up after their pet and use designated relief areas outside of Arts Landing.
  • Help protect wildlife by not feeding or disturbing animals.

Activities Requiring Permission

To ensure appropriate use of the space, prior approval from the Trust is required for the following activities. Stay tuned for more information on renting Arts Landing!  

  • Events, gatherings, parties, or organized activities involving more than 20 people
  • Performances, amplified sound, or busking
  • Organized sports
  • Commercial activity, vending, solicitation, or distribution of materials
  • Any photography, filming, or video recording requiring equipment, staging, crew, or exclusive use of an area
  • Chalking or other non-permanent marking materials
  • Use of third‑party vendors, décor, equipment, or structures
